These regular integrations French Navy air defense vessels in American CSGs are intended to maintain the skills of these escorts as well as maintaining full interoperability between the two navies. They allow French vessels to assume on the fly and in operation, command and control responsibilities in the area of air defense of a naval force. It is in any case the observation made by Admiral Bret Batchelder, CSG-8 Commander, when he went aboard Forbin to congratulate the crew for its adaptability and professionalism. USS Harry S. Truman (and its CSG) is set to join the French CSG (Task Force 473) in the Persian Gulf in the coming days for operation against the Islamic State. |
