Link Microtek, the manufacturer of infra-red, RF and microwave systems,
has won a 4-year contract from the UK MoDfor the provision of spares,
repairs and other support services for the company’s Azdec mobile
infra-red communications system. |
The
robustly constructed system consists of a compact base station, a number
of fixed infra-red antennas, a choice of headsets, operators’
belt-mounted battery packs/control units, and a central battery-charger
unit.
Typical items to be supplied under the new arrangement are expected
toincludereplacement battery packs and additional headsets, and the
prices of all equipment and services will be fixedfor the 4-year term
of the contract.
Commenting on the development, Link Microtek’s managing director,
Steve Cranstone, said: “We are very pleased to have signed this
agreement because it enables us to deal direct with the MoD, rather
than working through a third party. Not only will we be able to provide
the Royal Navy with a much improved service, butthe procurement process
will also be more efficient and cost-effective for the MoD.”
Employing low-level infra-red digital encoding technology, the Azdec
system poses no health or EMC hazard andfully satisfies the MoD’s
TEMPEST requirements.
