"Trials [of the ship] are on schedule. The Navy will receive the frigate Admiral Gorshkov in 2016," he said without specifying the date.

The frigate Admiral Gorshkov was planned to join the Russian Navy in late 2015. In particular, these plans were confirmed by Deputy Commander-in-Chief Alexander Fedotenkov in late October.

It was reported earlier that the advanced Russian-made Project 22350 frigate had conducted a live-firing exercise in late November 2015 to hit coastal and sea targets, using cruise missiles. The live-firing exercise was held as part of the ship’s trials.

The keel of the Admiral Gorshkov was laid in early 2006. The Project 22350 frigate is designed to fight surface warships and submarines in the ocean and at sea and repel air attacks both independently and within a formation. The Project 22350 frigate is flush-decked and has a three-island superstructure, a tower mast and a steel tube. The ship has a lower radar signature, which makes it virtually invisible for the enemy’s radars. The Project 22350 frigate has a displacement of 4,550 tons and a length of 135 meters. The capacity of its diesel-gas-turbine power plant is 65,000 hp. The frigate is armed with the new A-192 130mm artillery gun and anti-ship, antisubmarine and air defense missile systems, including the Kalibr and Poliment-Redut.
