Russian Navy to receive over 10 SAR boats of different types by the end of the year
 
According to the Chief of the Russian Navy search and emergency rescue service 1st rank Captain Damir Shaikhutdinov, by the end of 2015 6 modern search-and-rescue project 23040 motor boats will have been adopted to the Russian Navy. The building of the vessels will be finished in shipyard “Nizhegorodsky teplokhod”.

The distinctive features of the project 23040 motor boats are high specific power and ice class allowing to operate the boats 50 miles off the sites.

There are such optional features as an opportunity to conduct search, research and survey tasks using standard small-size remote-control unmanned underwater vehicle and towed hydrolocator.
     
According to the captain 1st rank Damir Shaikhutdinov, “the Russian Navy will receive 4 motor boats (project 23370) which are the first ships of the Navy created as modular-type vessels that will give more opportunities for rescue forces”.

These are new generation catamarans designed and built at the “KAMPO” plant in Moscow Region. They are aimed to conduct underwater works and rescue operations in the coastal zone as well as trainings of divers and rescuers.

In 2015, two other rescue ships will be built at the “Pella” shipyard in Saint Petersburg. These are multi-role tugboats “PS-45” designed to be used in the conditions of the Arctic.
