The
Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) released pictures showing Special
Forces training in the air drop of Zodiac Milpro RHIBs. RAAF C-130J
Hercules is undergoing a series of capability upgrades and role expansions
as it continues to serve the Australian Defence Force as a medium tactical
airlifter. This has included increases to its communications and situational
awareness systems, aircraft self-protection suite, and increased airdrop
capability.
Several of these developments are being conducted under the auspice
of Air Force's Plan Jericho, and are intended to make the Hercules even
more effective at operating in a modern battlespace. Commencing its
RAAF service in 1999 with No. 37 Squadron, the C-130J is the latest
variant of the Hercules transport to serve Air Force since the introduction
of the C-130A in 1958. |
