The aim of the exercise
was to improve the cooperation of the forces in a series of operational
and tactical scenarios, which took place both at sea and, at the NATO
Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Center (at Souda Bay, Greece)
and the Port of Haifa in Israel.
The scenarios involved the following:
· Naval surface warfare,
· Fleet air defence,
· Anti-Submarine Warfare with the participation of Maritime Patrol
Aircraft,
· Logistics with the use of ships’ helicopters,
· Electronic Warfare and Communications,
· Maritime interdiction operations, and
· SAR – CSAR operations.
The Hellenic Navy took part with a Blohm+Voss – Hellenic Shipyards
MEKO 200HN frigate, a Roussen-class (BAE Systems – Elefsis Shipyards
Super Vita-type FAC), a submarine and four Lockheed Martin F-16 fighter
aircraft.
The US participated with one destroyer and a maritime patrol aircraft.
Israel detached three Sa’ar 5 and Sa’ar 4.5 corvettes, two
submarines, one MPA, two transport aircraft, four utility helicopters
and a pair of fighter aircraft.
