During
the maneuvers, large amphibious assault ships landed Marines and their
combat vehicles on a beach in the Opuk Training Area in the Kerch Peninsula.
"Two diesel-electric submarines of the Black Sea Fleet have been
used as antisubmarine escort of the landing force," the press office
added.
The Black Sea Fleet operates four Project 636.3 submarines - the Stary
Oskol, Rostov-on-Don, Novorossiisk and Krasnodar. In all, the fleet
is to have six ships of the class.
