The complex drone provides targeting information and adjusts fire, as well as maps the terrain and searches for air and sea crews in distress. It unites several craft, automatic transportation controls and a servicing unit. Navy aviation chief Major-General Igor Kozhin earlier said the defense industry has to produce a new universal helicopter which can operate even in an unmanned regime. The Russian Helicopters Holding of Rostec State Corporation displayed at HeliRussia-2016 show the latest unmanned helicopter which successfully passed a series of tests. The drone is fully automatic and can fulfil missions by assigned algorithm without an operator. It has an electric engine and can rise to an altitude of 2 kilometers with a 5-kg payload. The maximum speed is 120 kilometers per hour. The helicopter may have a hybrid engine to increase the flight time and range. The Russian Tiber Company equipped its drone helicopter Geodesia-V with special devices to detect and track drones that violate state borders. The interceptor drone is equipped with a multifunctional video platform with various range monitors - thermal, daytime and ultraviolet. The helicopter is to detect and trace a target and transmit its exact coordinates to the ground control station. The Geodesia-V helicopter complex comprises the TB-29V drone and the command module. Maximum takeoff weight is 19.6 kilograms and the range is 540 kilometers. It can fly for six hours with 1-kg payload at an altitude of 1 kilometer. The Geodesia-V was first displayed at MAKS-2015 airshow, however it was a reconnaissance drone at the time incapable of tracking air targets. Director General of the Northern Design Bureau Vladimir Spiridopulo told TASS in 2014 that the first Russian warship to be equipped with a drone will be coast guard vessel of project 22460. He said tests of S-100 Horizon drone were carried out on the lead Rubin ship. © Copyright 2016 TASS. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
