The vessels are expected to accomplish tasks within
the Russian Navy’s permanent group in the Mediterranean Sea, the
press office added.
"The vessels have headed for a distant maritime zone in accordance
with the force rotation program. The small missile ship Zelyony Dol
will accomplish tasks in the Mediterranean Sea for the first time,"
Fleet spokesman Captain 1st Rank Vyacheslav Trukhachyov said.
The small missile ship Zelyony Dol built for Russia’s Black Sea
Fleet by the Zelenodolsk Shipyard arrived in Sevastopol in November
2015. The ocean-going mine-sweeper Kovrovets accomplished tasks in the
Atlantic Ocean and the Persian Gulf earlier. The two vessels were involved
in the sudden combat readiness check of Russian Southern Military District
forces on February 8-12, 2016. Before going to the Mediterranean Sea,
the vessels practiced accomplishing daily tasks and combat missions
at sea.
