The Ka-29 helicopter is designed to counter hostile ships and submarines, he added. "An air unit in the Primorye Territory [in Russia’s Far East] has started receiving the upgraded planes," Matveyev said.

"Under the state contract, a Russian Helicopters Group company has repainted the helicopters and replaced elements of their main rotor masts, engines and gearboxes," he added.

The Ka-29 helicopter is designed to counter hostile ships and submarines. It can be also used to transport military personnel and cargo.
