The ships left Severomorsk in north Russia on July 17. During their passage, they have covered a distance of more than 1,500 sea miles. They are expected to reach the Gulf of Finland within several days. While preparing for the passage, the ships’ commanders, watch officers and crews ensuring navigational safety practiced passing strait zones. The crews are also practicing joint maneuvers and cohesion within a formation. Servicemen who will be involved in the parade’s march are undergoing special training onboard the ship Pyotr Veliky. About 10 Northern Fleet ships and vessels, including the Project 941 submarine Dmitry Donskoy, the Project 11442 heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Pyotr Veliky, the Project 1164 missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov and the Project 1155 large antisubmarine warfare ship Vice-Admiral Kulakov, will take part in the parade in St. Petersburg. © Copyright 2017 TASS.
