Fielded in fiscal 2015, the Infrascanner 2000 is a portable medical device that uses near-infrared technology to screen patients for intra-cranial bleeding. The device helps in early detection of head injuries associated with a fall, vehicle collision, or close proximity to a blast or assault. It also supports identification and immediate referral to a CT scan and neurological intervention. "The Infrascanner device is one of the ways the Corps is working to improve warfighter readiness with innovative, cutting-edge technology and support," said Mark Urrutic, project officer in MCSC's Combat Support Systems. "This enhanced capability allows for early detection of brain injuries ensuring the best care for every member of our force."
