"The shipyard in Khabarovsk has always specialized in aluminum hulls. The state arms program envisages air-cushion ships, in particular, the Zubr and Murena. The former are bigger and the latter are smaller. They will be built there," he said adding dozens of ships will be produced.
Zubr-class ships of project 12322 are the biggest air-cushion landing ships in the world. The displacement is close to 550 tons and they can carry up to 150 tons of cargo. The Russian Navy currently has two such warships - the Yevgeny Kocheshkov and the Mordovia.
Murena of project 12061 is an air-cushion landing boat armed with two 30mm automatic AK-630 guns, eight portable Igla antiaircraft missiles. The boat can lay 10 to 24 mines depending on their type. The Russian Navy currently does not operate such ships.
