IMDEX 2019: 21 military vessels are to be seen at the Warship Display.

During the International Maritime Defense Exhibition & Conference (IMDEX) Asia 2019, the twelfth edition of the event, 21 military vessels coming from various countries were docked at the Changi Naval Base, in Singapore.

Among the ships that are docked at the Changi Naval Base are the JS Izumo of the JMSDF Navy, as well as the JS Murasame (DDG 101) of the same naval forces, the HMAS Canberra and HMAS Newcastle (FFG06) of the RAN, the INS Shakti (A57) and INS Kolkata (DDG 63) of the Indian Navy, the PLAN Xiangtan (FFG 531) of the PLA Navy, the ROKS Choe Yeong (DDH 981) of the ROK Navy, the USS William P Lawrence (DDG110) of the U.S. Navy, and the BNS Shadhinot (F111) of the Bangladesh Navy.

There were also the KRI Halasan (F630) and KRI Tombak (F629) of the Indonesian Navy, the UMS Kyansittha (F12) and UMS Sin Phyu Shin (F14) of the Myanmar Navy, the KDB Daruttaqwa (PV09) of the Royal Brunei Navy, the HTMS Bhumibol Adulyade (FFG471) of the Royal Thai Navy, the SLNS Samudura (P621) of the Sri Lanka Navy, the VPN Quang Trung (FF16) of the Vietnam People's Navy, and the BRP Andres Bonifacio (FF17) of the Philippine Navy.

Along with these foreign ships were also docked some Singaporean Navy warships, such as a Police Coast Guard vessel of the Republic of Singapore Navy, the RSS Formidable (68), the RSS Fortitude (20) and others patrol vessels.

The JMSDF Murasame (DDG 101) is a Murasame-class destroyer that has been commissioned in 1996 and that is the first of its class. This destroyer serves with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force since then, as a general-purpose destroyer. It has a full displacement of 6,200 tonnes, a length of 151m, a beam of 17m and a draft of 5m. It has been equipped with four gas turbines permitting it to reach speeds of up to 30 knots. It is armed with one OTO Melara 76mm gun, two 20mm Phalanx Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS), two triple torpedo tubes VLS Mk 48 (16 cells) and an evolved Sea Sparrow SAM VLS Mk 41 (16 cells).

The HMAS Canberra (L02) is the lead ship of the Canberra-class Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) in service with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) of which it is the flagship. This vessel was commissioned in 2014 by the RAN. It has a full displacement of 27,000 tonnes, a length of 230m, a beam of 32m and a draft of 7m. It can reach speeds of up to 20 knots and has a range of about 9,000 nautical miles, for an endurance of 45+ days.

This massive ship can carry four Light Landing Crafts and up to 110 vehicles. It can also accommodate up to 12 M1A1 Abrams, thanks to its heavy vehicle deck of 1,410 m² and its light vehicle deck of 1,880 m². In addition to its personnel, the ship can accommodate up to 1,000 military personnel. The ship, as a helicopter dock, can also accommodate from 6 to 18 helicopters (with maximum hangar space), and can also easily launch small aircraft thanks to its 13 degrees ski-jump.
