This Naval Systems Programme will include some major investments, such as the upgrading and modernising of the Coast Guard vessel KV Svalbard (mainly related to IFF and mid-life update), and even the manufacturing of new helicopter carrying coast guard vessels (replacing the existing Nordkapp class vessels, under Project P6615) which will be capable of operating NH90 helicopters.

In cooperation with Germany, Norway will start the development of a future maritime mine counter measure (MCM) capability, and even the replacement of its current ULA-class submarines (under Project P6346). Still in cooperation with the German MoD, Norway will co-develop a missile based on the existing Naval Strike Missile (under Project 6025 NSM LMU).
