Project 20386 corvettes will get new superstructure made out of composite materials.
Project 20386 corvettes armed with Kalibr cruise missiles that are built at the Northern Shipyard enterprise will get a fundamentally new superstructure made out of polymeric composite materials. The Krylov State Research Center (KGNTS) has taken part in developing the new superstructure, a source in the Russian shipbuilding industry told TASS.

"KGNTS has helped designing the superstructure’s new configuration for project 20386 warships. Fundamentally new tapping points with a metallic hull have been designed. They weigh 15% less than the tapping points of the superstructures of project 20380 ships," he said.
According to the source, design and technology solutions have been checked at KGNTS stands. They’ve made it possible to decrease the weight and size of the superstructure and labor intensity required for its production as well as to facilitate the superstructure’s installation. The Merkuriy (Mercury) project 20386 leading ship has been laid down at the Northern Shipyard enterprise (an affiliate of the United Shipbuilding Corporation/USC) under the name of Derzkiy in October 2016. The warship is expected to be handed over to the fleet in 2022.
