US Navy orders 23 LRIP JPALS landing systems from Raytheon.
The U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon of Fullerton, Calif., a US$ 234 million, fixed-price-incentive, firm-target contract for the low-rate initial production of 23 LRIP Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems (JPALS).

In addition, this contract procures three production and installation engineering development model unit upgrade kits, engineering change proposals, and associated data. This contract was not competitively procured pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1.
The contracted work will be performed in Fullerton, Calif. (68 percent), Cedar Rapids, Iowa (22 percent), and Indianapolis, Ind. (10 percent), and is expected to be completed in August 2023.
The U.S. Navy is obligating $US 49 million in Fiscal Year 2019 Other Procurement and Fiscal Year 2019 Shipbuilding and Conversion funds, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
