According to a video published on the Russian Ministry of Defense Youtube Channel, the missile cruisers "Pyotr Velikiy" and "Marshal Ustinov" of the Northern Fleet went to the Barents Sea to participate in a large-scale gathering campaign.

At the deployment stage, the crews conducted an exercise to suppress coastal targets of a conditional enemy by artillery fire. The missiles fired are the P-700 Granit and the P-1000 Vulkan naval anti-ship cruise missiles.

In the near future, the sailors will complete the tasks of organizing interaction, check the readiness of the personnel for actions on sudden lead-in and will conduct a series of exercises on anti-submarine and air defense.

About Pyotr Velikiy Battlecruiser:

Pyotr Velikiy is the fourth Kirov-class battlecruiser of the Russian Navy. The Russian designation for the type is "heavy nuclear missile cruiser", but Western defense commentators have resurrected the term "battlecruiser" to describe them, as they are the largest surface combatant warships in the world. Pyotr Velikiy is the flagship of the Northern Fleet.

Pyotr Velikiy was put into operation in 1998. The ship is equipped with the Granit missile system and the S-300F Fort air defence system and is designed to destroy enemy carrier formations.

The cruiser’s nuclear power system allows it to reach a speed of 32 knots (60 kilometres per hour) and is designed to operate for 50 years.
