ST Engineering wins contract with UAE for Falaj 3-class Offshore Patrol Vessels.
According to a press release published by ST Engineering on November 15, 2021, the company announced that its Marine business in Singapore has been awarded a sub-contract by Abu Dhabi Ship Building PJSC (ADSB) for the supply of design, platform equipment and technical assistance for the construction of four Falaj 3-class Offshore Patrol Vessels. These vessels will be constructed in ADSB for the UAE Navy.

The contract covers the basic, detail design and production design of the vessels. Technical assistance will be provided during the construction of the first of class vessel.
The Falaj-3 class is a highly versatile and reliable offshore patrol vessel, suitable to carry out a wide range of missions including maritime security and search and rescue operations.
Based on the proven Fearless Class Patrol Vessels, this 60m Offshore Patrol Vessel will be designed to meet International Classification Society Naval Rules, as well as 100% redundancy for critical and major systems and high survivability requirements.
ST Engineering has an extensive track record in naval vessel design, in addition to its more known naval shipbuilding capabilities. In recent years, it has been investing in its Marine capabilities, harnessing digitalization to drive smarter shipbuilding and deeper vessel intelligence.
FALAJ 3 boasts high survivability through CBRN, fire zone, and watertight protection, and accords with International Classification Society Naval Rules and U.S. Navy Stability Requirements for ship survivability. The vessel is designed with high redundancy, including 100% redundancy for critical and major systems.
Falaj 3 is powered by 4 high-power engines using 4 propellers to attain speeds excess of 26 kn. It has 4 generators capable of producing 1.2 Megawatts of power. It is equipped with Integrated Platform Management System to monitor and control all platform systems from one single point. It also boasts of wide array of safety and fire-fighting equipment and includes a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat. The vessel can carry up a crew of 39 sailors.
