The ship has been built by the Zelenodolsk Shipyard, the press office added. Then, speed, maneuverability, and vibration tests will take place. At the last stages, firing tests against seaborne and air targets will be held, the press office noted.
The Project 21631 ship developed by the Zelenodolsk Design Bureau is a multirole river-sea vessel that has a big displacement and is equipped with advanced artillery, missile, anti-frogman warfare, air defense, and radio electronic armament.
The water-jet propulsion system installed on the ship makes it possible to conduct combat operations in shallow water. The ship’s 30mm automatic artillery system is capable of destroying enemy airplanes, helicopters, and other air-launched weapons, hitting small surface and coastal targets at a considerable distance from the coastline. The construction of such ships started at the Zelenodolsk Shipyard in 2010.
