Admiral Essen is a frigate of the Admiral Grigorovich class of the Russian Navy named in honor of Admiral Nikolai Ottovich von Essen. It is based with the Black Sea Fleet at Sevastopol.
The ships of this class have a displacement of about 4,000 tonnes, a speed of 30 knots, and an endurance of 30 days. They have a length of 124.8 m (409 ft 5 in), a beam of 15.2 m (49 ft 10 in), and a draught of 4.2 m (13 ft 9 in).
Project 11356 is armed with an A190E 100mm gun featuring a 5P-10E fire control system located on the forward bow deck, which enables tracking and engaging multiple targets effectively.
The А190 naval gun can fire high-explosive (impact fuse) and AA (time fuse) ammunition at a rate of 80 rounds per minute for ranges more than 20km.
The ASW capability is provided by two DTA-53-11356 twin torpedo tubes, and an RBU-6000 depth charge rocket launcher firing 90R ASW rockets and RGB-60 depth rocket bombs.
