Russian destroyer conducts exercise in the East China Sea near Japan.

According to information published by Tass on July 6, 2022, the Pacific Fleet’s frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov and corvette Gremyashchy practiced mine countermeasures during an exercise in the East China Sea.

The seamen also practiced anti-frogman warfare while staying in an unsafe roadstead, grenade throwing with the use of the DP-64 double-barrel handheld countersubversion grenade launcher and hand grenades. The destroyer Marshal Shaposhnikov and the corvette Gremyashchy continue their long-distance voyage.

About the destroyer Marshal Shaposhnikov

Marshal Shaposhnikov is a Udaloy-class destroyer of the Russian Navy commissioned in 1985. The vessel serves in the Russian Pacific Fleet. She was commissioned in 1985.

The destroyer has a length of 163 m (535 ft), a beam of 19.3 m (63 ft), and a draught of 7.8 m (26 ft). She can reach a top speed of 35 knots (65 km/h. 40 mph).

Marshal Shaposhnikov is powered by two-shaft COGAG and four gas turbines developing 89 000 kW (120 000 hp). She can carry up a complement of 300 sailors.

They are armed with 16 VLS cells for Kalibr, Oniks, Zircon, and Otvet missiles, eight 3M24 anti-ship missiles, 64 VLS cells for Kinzhal surface-to-air missiles, 100 mm AK-190 gun, four 30 mm Gatling guns, two 4 553 mm torpedo tubes and two RBU-6000 anti-submarine rocket launchers.
