The final stages of construction for the "Naro-Fominsk" missile ship are being carried out by the Gorky Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant, with dock and state trials underway. Once complete, the vessel will be deployed to the Baltic Fleet's Kronstadt base via internal waterways.
"Naro-Fominsk" is the second last in the series of eleven "Buyan-M" ships constructed at the Zelenodolsk SSZ, having been laid down in 2018 and launched in 2022. Once the "Stavropol", the final ship in the series, joins the fleet, the series will be deemed complete.
An upgrade from the 21630 "Buyan" project, the 21631 "Buyan-M" ships belong to the versatile "river-sea" class, designed to protect the economic zones of the state.
Their primary armament is the long-range "Caliber-NK" missile system, featuring eight vertical launch shafts. The 949-ton vessel measures 74.1 meters in length, 11.0 meters in width, and 6.57 meters in height, with a 2.6-meter draft.
Capable of reaching maximum speeds of 25 knots, the ship can cover a range of 2500 miles over a 10-day period with a 52-member crew. It is equipped with a water jet propulsion system.
