Army 2023: Russia unveils Narval Remote Controlled Weapon Station.

According to information published by Top War on August 16, 2023, a Naval Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) designed to defend small ships and boats from surface and aerial threats, including drones, was unveiled at the "Army-2023" forum.

The Remote Controlled Weapon Station named Narval was presented by the manufacturing consortium "Electromashina," a subsidiary of Uralvagonzavod.

The new hydro-stabilized module with remote control can target ground, surface, and aerial threats up to 600 meters away under certain sea conditions. It can be mounted on small ships or boats as auxiliary or primary weaponry. It can be utilized to destroy unmanned boats, which is particularly relevant today.

Trials of this combat module were reported back in 2021. As stated by the "Electromashina" press service, the BKM Narval is equipped with a 12.7-mm "Kord" machine gun, a laser rangefinder, a thermal imaging system, and a gyroscopic stabilization system that allows for accurate targeting in rough seas. Narval also has a "land version," essentially making it a versatile combat module designed to be mounted on various carriers.

It's worth noting that currently, the competition among combat module developers for land-based carriers is extremely high. Hence, "Electromashina" has prioritized the naval version of the BM, especially given the increased demand for such modules due to recent events.
