At the eighth edition of Seafuture, Leonardo presents two new systems for naval and land defence.
With over a century of experience in designing and developing advanced systems for naval and land defence, Leonardo presents two new turrets at Seafuture (La Spezia 5-8 June) – the LIONFISH® 30 and the HITFIST® 30 UL (Unmanned Light).

Both solutions are the result of continuous research and development activities and extensive experience gained from operational scenarios. The new remotely controlled systems enrich the respective technological families with advanced capabilities and performance and integrate the Leonardo 30mm X-GUN, the new ITAR-free electrically powered weapon system developed entirely in-house and featuring innovative and patented technologies.
The LIONFISH® 30 naval turret is a compact and lightweight system that can be installed on small platforms, protecting them from any type of asymmetric threat, including drones and helicopters, within multi-target complex scenarios.
The latter capability is guaranteed through sophisticated Artificial Intelligence algorithms that allow contextual analysis and optimization to engage multiple simultaneous threats.
Engagement of different types of aerial targets, such as mini and micro drones, is also guaranteed by the ability to use new-concept, high-efficiency air burst ammunition with performed fragmentation.
The system shares with other variants of the LIONFISH® family (Ultralight, Inner Reloading, and Top 12.7mm and the 20mm version 20) the architecture, the remote control capability through a high-resolution local console, and ease of use and maintenance.
Finally, the new turret stands out for its high firing rate and operating range and is equipped with an electro-optical suite that allows 360° surveillance and tracking.
In the land domain, Leonardo presents the HITFIST® 30 UL (Unmanned Light) remotely controlled turret. It is more compact and lighter than the manned 25/30 HITFIST®, of which more than 800 systems are already in service worldwide on board wheeled and tracked vehicles.
The new unmanned system can be installed on vehicles with stringent weight requirements, such as amphibious platforms. It is effective against all types of asymmetric threats thanks to the use of air burst ammunition.
Leonardo's latest defence systems have been designed and developed to respond to constantly evolving operational scenarios characterized by increasingly complex threats, especially from the air.
These developments strengthen a technological portfolio that already includes, among others, the bestselling 76/62 Super Rapido in various configurations and the 127/64 Lightweight Vulcano for the naval domain, and the 105/120 HITFACT® turrets for the land sector.
