Developed from the KCR-60M and PC-40, these boats are locally constructed across various Indonesian shipyards. They serve as an indirect successor to the FPB-57 class in terms of size and tonnage.

As of December 2022, the Indonesian Navy had two Dorang class vessels in active service, with an additional four under construction. These boats are designed for versatility, capable of being modified with anti-ship missiles during state emergencies.

Each Dorang class boat is equipped with a single-barreled 40 mm OTO Melara main gun, which includes a tracking system with a Laser Range Finder, IR Camera, Day Camera, and is integrated with a Fire Control System. Additionally, they are armed with two 12.7 mm heavy machine guns positioned on both sides of the hull for air defense.

In terms of design, these patrol boats have a length of 60 meters, a beam of 8.5 meters, and a draft of 2.72 meters. They are powered by two MTU 20V400M73 diesel engines, each producing 3,200 kW of power.

This enables a cruising speed of 15 knots and a maximum speed of 24 knots. With a displacement of 520 tons, these vessels have a maximum sailing endurance of six days and can accommodate 55 personnel, including both active and reserve crew members.
