Indonesia's Navy launches corvette Bung Karno to replace KRI Barakuda.
According to information published by Defense Studies on April 20, 2023, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has launched the new corvette Bung Karno-369 vessel to replace the presidential ship KRI Barakuda-633, which has been in operation for 27 years.

TNI AL Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali stated that the 100% locally made vessel was built by PT Karimun Anugrah Sejati in Batam, Riau Islands. The Korvet Bung Karno-369 will serve as a presidential ship to support various protocol activities and diplomatic tasks.
She will replace the KRI Barakuda and support TNI AL in executing Military Operations for War (OMP) as well as Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP).
The vessel is expected to begin operating in mid-June 2023 in Jakarta, coinciding with the Birth of Pancasila Day and the birthday of Indonesia's first president, Sukarno.
About KRI Bung Karno
The KRI Bung Karno is a guided-missile corvette/presidential yacht with a displacement of 650 tonnes (640 long tons) and a length of 73 m (239 ft 6 in). It has a beam of 12 m (39 ft 4 in) and is propelled by 2 diesel engines, each with a power of 4,000 kW (5,400 shp), allowing it to reach a speed of 24 knots (44 km/h).
The ship has a complement of 55 personnel and is armed with 1 OTO Marlin 40 turret, 2 20 mm autocannons, and 2 twin SIMBAD surface-to-air missile launchers, each capable of firing 4 missiles.
The KRI Bung Karno is also equipped with aviation facilities, including a flight deck and the capability to carry 1 AS565 Panther helicopter.
