Italian destroyer ITS De La Penne conducts training with Djibouti Coast Guard.
According to a tweet published by Eunavfor on September 6, 2023, the EUNAVFOR flagship, destroyer ITS Luigi Durand DE LA PENNE, carried out a training session with the Djibouti Coast Guard.

The destroyer spans a length of 147.7 meters, with a beam of 16.1 meters and a draught of 5 meters. This vessel has a standard displacement of 4,500 tons, which increases to 5,560 tons when fully loaded.
Her propulsion is based on a CODOG scheme. It integrates two General Electric/Avio LM2500 gas turbines delivering 41,000 kW, and two diesel engines from Grandi Motori Trieste adding another 9,396 kW.
The system is further supported by six diesel engine generators, the Fincantieri DMD 203-6. The destroyer can achieve a maximum speed of 32 knots and covers a range of 7,000 nautical miles cruising at 18 knots.
The ship is armed with a comprehensive suite of sensors and processing systems, including the SPS-52C 3D radar, AESN MM/SPS-768 radar, medium-range AESN MM/SPS-774, surface radar AMS MM/SPS-702, navigation radar SMA MM/SPN-703, four AESN Orion RTN-30X units, a DE-1164/1167 sonar system, TACAN URN-25, and the SADOC-2 combat system.
For electronic warfare and protection, the Luigi Durand de la Penne is equipped with the Elettronica SLQ-732 NETTUNO ECM system. Additionally, it incorporates two SAGEM Sagaie decoy launching systems and the ASW AN/SLQ-25 Nixie, known as the Surface Ship Torpedo Defense (SSTD) System.
Her armament comprises one Otobreda 127 mm gun, three Oto Melara 76/62 mm Super Rapido guns, an Albatross octuple launcher fitted for the Selenia Aspide SAM, a Mk 13 launcher with a capacity for 40 Standard SM-1MR missiles, four OTOMAT Mk2 SSMs, four Milas anti-submarine missiles, and two 324 mm triple torpedo launchers, the WASS B515/3.
The vessel has the capacity to accommodate two helicopters, with a double hangar providing the necessary aviation facilities.
