The cutting-edge Russian frigate trained in rough sea of 3-4 force and at wind gusts of 20 meters per second.

The frigate carried out the drills with the computer-generated simulation of the tactical situation, notionally destroying the aerial targets with its onboard antiaircraft weapons.

The air defense command post accomplished timely maneuvering procedures. The personnel of the combat detection, radio-electronic, and antiaircraft weapon posts practiced issuing and receiving target acquisition data and notionally employing the shipborne self-defense weapons.

The naval task force composed of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the medium sea tanker Kama is carrying out its combat patrol under the command of Northern Fleet Missile Ships Division Commander Captain 1st Rank Oleg Gladky, the fleet said.

The Admiral Gorshkov of project 22350 joined the Russian Navy in July 2018. In December 2022, the frigate conducted an inter-fleet transit and arrived in the Northern Fleet main naval base of Severomorsk after routine maintenance at Kronshtadt Shipyard.

The frigate carries Kalibr-NK missiles and Tsirkon hypersonic missiles.

About the frigate

Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Gorshkov is an Admiral Gorshkov class frigate of the Russian Navy and the lead ship of the class. The Admiral Gorshkov class is the successor to the Neustrashimyy and Krivak-class frigates.

Unlike their Soviet-era predecessors, the new ships are designed for multiple roles. They are to be capable of executing long-range strikes, conducting anti-submarine warfare, and carrying out escort missions.

General characteristics of Project 22350: displacement - 5000 tons, length - 135 m, breadth - 16 m, speed - up to 29 knots, range - 4500 miles, autonomy - 30 days, crew - from 170 people.
