Operation NANOOK is a commitment by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to ensure the defense and security of Canada's northern regions. This operation annually spans areas like Yukon, Labrador, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

Different aspects of Operation NANOOK serve distinct purposes. Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT showcases the CAF's ability to operate in the High Arctic.

Operation NANOOK-TATIGIIT focuses on collaborative responses to challenges identified by Territorial Governments. The Royal Canadian Navy asserts its surveillance role in the North through Operation NANOOK-TUUGAALIK. Finally, Operation NANOOK-NUNAKPUT highlights the CAF's presence in the Northwest Passage.

Through these initiatives, Op NANOOK aims to enhance the CAF's preparedness in the North, coordinate with different governmental levels, and address potential safety and security concerns in the region.

The operation has roots dating back to 2007 and saw a shift in 2018, when it expanded into varied activities held in multiple northern communities over the year.
