Seafuture 2023: Italy Navy's showcases FREMM frigate Antonio Marceglia.

The Italian Navy's FREMM (Fregata Europea Multi-Missione) frigate Antonio Marciglia, participated in Seafuture 2023, an esteemed maritime event.

The Italian frigate Antonio Marceglia, commissioned in 2019, is a Carlo Bergamini-class frigate built by Fincantieri. With a displacement of 6,700 tons, the ship measures 144.6 m in length and has a beam and draught of 19.7 m and 8.7 m, respectively.

The ship is equipped with a combined diesel-electric and gas (CODLAG) propulsion system, consisting of a 32 MW gas turbine from General Electric/Avio LM2500+G4, two 2.5 MW electric motors from Jeumont Electric, four diesel generators, and two shafts driving controllable pitch propellers.

This setup provides a top speed of 27 knots and a maximum cruising speed of 15.6 knots. It also has a 1 MW bow thruster for increased maneuverability.

Antonio Marceglia is armed with a variety of advanced weapon systems, including the 16-cell MBDA SYLVER A50 VLS for Aster 15 and 30 missiles, the Leonardo Otobreda 127/64 Vulcano, the Leonardo OTO Melara 76/62 mm Davide/Strales CIWS gun, Leonardo Oto Melara/Oerlikon KBA 25/80 mm remote weapon systems, MBDA Teseo\Otomat Mk-2/A anti-ship and land attack missiles, and more.

Furthermore, the frigate is outfitted with sophisticated sensors and processing systems such as the Leonardo Kronos Grand Naval (MFRA) Active electronically scanned array radar, CAPTAS-4 towed-array sonar, and UMS 4110 CL hull-mounted sonar.

For aviation, the ship is equipped to carry two SH90s or one SH90 and one AW101, which can be armed with MU 90 torpedoes or MBDA Marte Mk2/S missiles. The ship has a double hangar to accommodate these aircraft.
