Turkish Naval Forces completes integration of STM's GEMED Simulation System.

According to a PR published by STM on October 12, 2023, the Naval Warfare Effectiveness Analysis Model, known as GEMED, has successfully completed its acceptance tests.

Developed by STM Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş., a prominent entity in the Turkish defense sector, this simulation system is designed to assist the Turkish Naval Forces in the analysis and procurement stages of system and tactical development.

GEMED will provide the naval forces with a platform to simulate and evaluate battle scenarios in a virtual environment before their real-world execution. This approach aims to ensure that operations are vetted in a controlled setting.

Ozgur Guleryuz, The General Manager of STM highlighted the company's expertise in developing simulation and decision support tools. He described GEMED as a system capable of assessing the efficiency of existing and future military assets and strategies. This system integrates models of multiple combat elements, such as platforms, sensors, weapons, and countermeasures.

He further noted that GEMED allows for analyses across surface, underwater, and aerial operations. The system's capability to test battle scenarios in a virtual setting is intended to offer insights into operational planning.

To date, GEMED has been used to trial over 40 different operations in naval, aerial, and underwater domains. The model allows analysts to assign tasks to specific platform models and develop conditional plans. Through GEMED, different platform-system configurations and tactics can be evaluated under diverse environmental conditions.
