The target of this aggressive operation was two vessels from the Russian Black Sea Fleet's Project 22160 patrol ships Sergey Kotov and Vasily Bykov.

The strike involved three naval drones from the Ukrainian army, known as the Magura V5 USV, targeting the aforementioned vessels. Unsubstantiated rumors have begun to circulate suggesting that one of the attacked ships might be a container vessel carrying arms from Syria.

Following the attack, Russian sailors have reportedly requested evacuation, indicating that the patrol ships might have sustained significant damage. Reports suggest that there have been five injuries and one casualty, although no official confirmation has been given on these figures, nor on the status of the ships.

The Magura V5 USV utilized in this operation is primarily a surveillance and reconnaissance unit with additional capabilities such as mine warfare. This autonomous unmanned vehicle minimizes personnel risk and reduces operational costs.

The Magura V5's specifications include a length of 5500 mm, a width of 1500 mm, and a height of 500 mm above the waterline. Despite its compact size, the V5 can reach speeds of up to 22 knots cruising and 42 knots maximum, with a range of 450 nautical miles.

Moreover, the V5 has a load capacity of 320 kg, allowing for various payloads. Connectivity options for the unit include a mesh radio with an air-based repeater or satellite communications (SatCom), ensuring reliable communication during operations.
