According to information published by the US DoD on September 19, 2023, the USS Jackson (LCS 6) docked at Apia, marking the commencement of the Pacific Partnership 2023 in Samoa.

This initiative, one of the prominent annual humanitarian efforts in the Pacific, seeks to strengthen disaster response mechanisms and build enduring ties in the region.
In collaboration with Samoan authorities, the Pacific Partnership 2023 is set to engage in a range of humanitarian activities. These span sectors like engineering, disaster management, public health, and outreach tailored to the Samoan context.
During their Apia stint, the team plans to offer medical services, emphasizing knowledge-sharing and community education. They will also partake in infrastructure projects and disaster response drills.
About the LCS
The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) has a light displacement of 2,307 metric tons, with a full displacement of 3,104 metric tons and a deadweight of 797 metric tons.
The ship measures 127.4 meters in length and has a beam of 31.6 meters. With a draft of 14 feet (4.27 meters), the LCS is designed for various maritime conditions.
In terms of speed, the vessel can reach over 40 knots, with the capability to sprint at speeds up to 47 knots. With a consistent speed of 20 knots, the LCS has a range of 4,300 nautical miles.
