The Jiaozuo will join Russian naval vessels in a water parade on July 28, marking the first time in five years that a Chinese naval ship has participated in the Russian Navy Day celebrations. The ship is scheduled to take part in a full-dress rehearsal of the parade on July 25 before its official appearance on the 28th.

Chinese-Russian relationships

The naval relationship between China and Russia has deepened significantly in recent years, characterized by a series of joint exercises and patrols, as well as military-technical cooperation. This relationship has grown within the broader context of their strategic partnership aimed at countering US influence and NATO's presence.

Joint naval exercises, such as the ongoing "Joint Sea-2024," highlight the military collaboration between the two nations. These exercises, involving warships, guided missile destroyers, and frigates, are conducted in diverse locations including the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

Since 2012, these joint exercises have evolved in scope and complexity, now regularly incorporating advanced maneuvers such as missile firing drills, air and anti-submarine warfare, and combined air defense. These activities have expanded beyond bilateral exercises to include other nations, such as Iran and South Africa.
