Originally slated for delivery in 2023, the vessel is now scheduled for its maiden voyage in September. Following this initial sea outing, a comprehensive series of tests and evaluations will be conducted over the span of approximately one year.

Designed for a range of missions, including anti-submarine, anti-surface, and anti-air warfare, the Frégate de Défense et d'Intervention (FDI) are equipped with a comprehensive array of weapons such as Exocet anti-ship missiles, Aster surface-to-air missiles, anti-submarine torpedoes, and a rapid-fire 76 mm gun.

Additionally, the FDI frigates feature sensors and electronic warfare systems, enhancing their situational awareness and defensive capabilities. For example, the Hellenic Navy's FDI frigates will incorporate advanced electronic warfare suites, including the RAM CIWS and cutting-edge electronic countermeasure systems.

The design of the FDI frigates incorporates stealth features, reducing their radar cross-section and making them harder to detect. The modular construction of these frigates also allows for future upgrades and modifications.

These frigates are designed to operate within a network-centric environment, facilitating real-time information sharing and coordination with other naval units and allied forces.
