Molniya missile boat launched at Vympel Shipyard in Yaroslavl region.


According to information published by Tass on July 29, 2024, the Project 12418 Molniya high-speed missile boat was launched at the Vympel Shipyard, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).

The modernized missile boat, with the factory number 01301, will be named Stupinets after the town of Stupino in the Moscow Region. Project 12418 Molniya missile boats are designed to destroy enemy surface combatants, boats, and transports both independently and in cooperation with the fleet's strike forces. The boat is equipped with modern navigation and communication systems and weaponry. The ship's architecture has been altered to improve habitability.

Vympel Shipyard specializes in the production of next-generation missile and patrol boats, high-speed search and rescue, hydrographic, and other specialized vessels for both security forces and civilian customers.

Technical data

The Project 12418 corvettes are equipped with the "Uran-E" missile system, which includes Kh-35 anti-ship missiles capable of engaging targets at a range of up to 260 kilometers. Each vessel carries eight of these missiles, providing significant offensive capabilities.

Additionally, they feature an AK-176MA-01 76.2mm gun and two AK-630M 30mm close-in weapon systems for defense against air and surface threats. The AK-176MA-01 has an effective range of 15.7 kilometers, while the AK-630M systems can engage targets up to 5 kilometers away.

Project 12418 corvettes have a displacement of approximately 580 tons, a length of around 56.9 meters, and a beam of 10.2 meters. They can achieve speeds of up to 29 knots and have a range of 2900 nautical miles. The vessels can operate autonomously for up to 10 days.
