The PLA Navy's Type 071 comprehensive landing ship, Qilianshan, began exercises with Mozambique, focusing on maritime patrol, VBSS (visit, board, search, and seizure), maritime rescue, and counter-terrorism and counter-piracy operations.

The Qilianshan arrived in Mozambique waters and had conducted preparatory training, including search and rescue and counter-terrorism drills, en route from Tanzania.

The joint naval exercises between China and Tanzania concluded successfully. The Chinese vessels, including the Type 071 landing ship Wuzhishan and the Type 052D guided missile destroyer Hefei, along with four Tanzanian patrol vessels, completed various training courses.

These included main gun shooting, joint search and rescue, counter-terrorism, counter-piracy, VBSS, and joint patrol maneuvers. The sea phase training concluded with the vessels returning to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

This marks the first instance of China conducting simultaneous Navy and Army exercises with African countries.
