Upon docking at the main base of the Pacific Fleet among Russian warships, a welcoming ceremony was held for the foreign sailors. During the frigate's stay in Vladivostok, cultural events are planned for the sailors, including city tours and a visit to the Pacific Fleet Museum. The visit of the Vietnamese Navy warship will continue until July 31.

The frigate Tran Hung Dao was built at the Zelenodolsk Shipyard named after A. M. Gorky under the Project 11661E "Gepard-3.9".

She was launched on April 27, 2016, and delivered to the Vietnamese naval base "Cam Ranh" by the transport ship Rolldock Star on October 27, 2017. This is the third of four frigates built for Vietnam.

Vietnam-Russia Naval Cooperation

Currently, Pacific Fleet ships continue the tradition of friendly visits to Vietnamese shores. The logistics support point on the Cam Ranh Peninsula, which was Russia's largest overseas naval base for 23 years, was officially returned to Vietnam in May 2002 after fulfilling its purpose.

Vietnam declared that Cam Ranh would no longer be used as a foreign military facility and would become an open commercial port.

For the first time since the withdrawal of Russian troops, Russian warships visited Cam Ranh in June 2014. The Pacific Fleet squadron, consisting of the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, the  tanker Irkut, and the ocean salvage tug Alatau, visited the base.
