The Type 075 landing helicopter dock is a class of amphibious assault ship that represents a major step forward in the People's Liberation Army Navy's (PLAN) blue-water naval ambitions.

Designed to deploy and support missions involving helicopters, amphibious vehicles, and marine troops, the Type 075 is poised to enhance China's ability to project power and conduct amphibious operations across distant shores.

With specifications that highlight the ship's advanced capabilities, the Type 075 has a displacement ranging from 30,000 to 40,000 tons, a length of 232 meters (761 feet), and a beam of 36.8 meters (121 feet).

It can carry two Type 726 Yuyi class LCAC for boats and landing craft, accommodating up to 60 armored fighting vehicles, and has the capacity to transport up to 800 troops. In terms of armament, the ship is equipped with 2 × H/PJ-14 30 mm CIWS and 2 × HQ-10 surface-to-air missiles, enhancing its defensive capabilities.

The aviation facilities on board can support up to 28 helicopters, with a hangar deck designed for their accommodation and maintenance, further extending the Type 075's operational versatility.

Its presence at WDS 2024 underscores China's commitment to expanding its naval capabilities in response to evolving security dynamics in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
