During the visit, Admiral Ali received a detailed briefing on the Belharra Frigate (FDI), learning about its construction stages from design to completion. The Belharra is a frigate ordered by the French and Greek Navies, set to be fully operational in 2024. Admiral Ali remarked that this modern frigate could be a potential option for Indonesia.
In addition to the Lorient visit, Admiral Ali and his delegation also toured the OCEA shipyard in Les Sables d'Olonne. OCEA specializes in aluminum alloy ships and has previously collaborated with the Indonesian Navy on the construction of the hydro-oceanographic survey vessels KRI Rigel - 933 and KRI Spica - 934.

In service are the Martadinata-class frigates, designed by the Dutch Damen Group. These versatile vessels are equipped for a range of operations, including anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare.
A addition to Indonesia's naval assets will be the FREMM-class frigates from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. Indonesia has secured a contract for six of these highly capable frigates, which are renowned for their advanced systems and multi-role functionality. This contract also includes the acquisition of two Maestrale-class frigates from Italy, which will be refurbished and transferred to the Indonesian Navy.
Looking forward, Indonesia is expecting the delivery of two Iver Huitfeldt-class frigates based on the Arrowhead 140 design by Babcock International. Scheduled to join the fleet by 2025-2026, these frigates will feature sophisticated combat systems, including the Advent combat management system from HAVELSAN.
In addition, the Indonesian Navy has signed a contract with Fincantieri for two PPA (Pattugliatori Polivalenti d’Altura) offshore patrol vessels, set to be delivered by 2025.
