IndoDefence 2025: X33 KSR Fast Attack Missile USV Boosts Indonesia’s Coastal Defense Capabilities.
At the Indo Defence 2025 exhibition, held from 11 to 14 June at the Jakarta International Expo, the Indonesian company PT Lundin Industry Invest, also known as North Sea Boats, unveils the X33 KSR, a new-generation Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) designed for offensive coastal operations. This remotely operated naval system reflects the evolving doctrines of littoral asymmetric warfare, combining stealth, speed, and operational autonomy.

The X33 KSR is a 20-meter-long USV with a beam of 4 meters and a displacement of 33 tons. It is powered by two diesel engines delivering a total of 2,000 horsepower, enabling the craft to reach speeds of up to 50 knots. Its propulsion system and lightweight configuration allow it to carry out strike or patrol missions within a 30-nautical-mile range, while reducing crew exposure thanks to its unmanned design.
Developed for autonomous or remotely controlled combat missions, the X33 KSR is configured to carry vertically launched missiles and a rapid-fire cannon. It is also equipped with countermeasure systems designed to protect it from anti-ship threats. Its architecture includes integrated sensors and communications systems to allow for real-time remote operation, as well as autonomous navigation through pre-programmed scenarios.
Beyond offensive roles, the X33 KSR is designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. It can deploy aerial and surface drones to extend its surveillance range and gather data in sensitive coastal or port areas. Its modular design enables adaptation to various mission profiles, including electronic warfare and naval harassment operations.
The development of this USV is part of Indonesia’s broader objective to modernize its naval forces by incorporating autonomous technologies capable of addressing evolving maritime security challenges in the archipelago and surrounding waters. By presenting the X33 KSR alongside other platforms such as the X80 Combat Boat and the Arrow 000 surface drone, PT Lundin Industry Invest positions itself as a central player in regional naval innovation. This shift toward unmanned systems represents a major strategic transition in Indonesia’s naval doctrine, focused on mobility, deterrence, and reducing human vulnerability in high-risk maritime zones.
