NBC protection units from Central Military District will receive 30 RKhM-6 and ARS-14KM vehicles
The Central Military District’s NBC protection units will receive over 30 upgraded RKhM-6 nuclear, biological, chemical (NBC) reconnaissance vehicles and ARS-14KM decontamination vehicles this year, the district’s press office said on Thursday.

"The advanced vehicles will go to the Kyzyl-stationed mountain brigade in Tuva and Orenburg-based Iskander-M missile brigade in the first place," the press office quotes Valery Vassilyev, chief of the district’s NBC protection forces, as saying.

The press office noted that each of the vehicles mounted over a dozen accurate instruments, including dosimeter-radiometers, dose rate meters, gas detectors, and sampling kits, etc. The ARS-14KM decontamination vehicle is designed for decontaminating military hardware and terrain, setting smokescreens and heating process solutions.

The RKhM-6 NBC reconnaissance vehicle is designed to reconnoiter the chemical, biological and biological situation and report the intelligence up the chain of command.

It is based on the chassis of the BTR-80 armored personnel carrier and has a road speed of 80 km/h, a speed on water of 9 km/h, a fuel endurance of 600 km and a crew of three.
