"The 6B15 suit equipped with special loops designed for extracting drivers from vehicles has halved the evacuation time, thus increasing the crew’s survivability. The feature of the protective garment is its aramid fiber fabric similar to steel in terms of properties, but much lighter than steel," the press office added.

If an armored personnel carrier catches fire, the 6B15 shall protect its driver against open flames for 15 s, thus enabling him to abandon the burning vehicle.

The kit weighs 6.5 kg and includes Class 1 spall-resistant body armor, a spall liner for the helmet and a fire-resistant coverall. It is donned over the regular uniform. The body armor also protects the wearer’s breast and back against spall.

The 6B15 is the first integrated protection kit for armored vehicle crews to enter the Russian Armed Forces’ inventory, the press office noted.
