Armament
The TM-140/TM-140A was always presented without any armament but according to the manufacturer, the vehicle can be fitted with a remotely weapon station armed with a machine gun.
Design and protection
The TM-140 is based on a tracked chassis with a crew cabin at the front and a cargo area at the rear. The cab’s seating capacity is seven passengers, including three sleeping bunks. The passenger module seats eight personnel or can be converted to have four full-fledged bunks. The crew cab is equipped at the front with two large windows and one door on each side. There is also one hatch on the crew cab roof. The TM-140 can be fitted with an armour cab with bulletproof windows to offer protection against ballistic threats. The carrying capacity of the TM-140A equipped with a cargo platform equals 4 tons.
Mobility
The Chetra TM-140 is motorized with a YaMZ-236 B2 gas-turbine-charged engine developing 250 hp. The vehicle uses a six-speed hydro-mechanical transmission with electrical hydraulic gear shift features 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds. Hydro-mechanical transmission provides creeping speeds of about 4 km/h. The torsion bar suspension of the TM-140 consists of 6 road-wheels with the idler at the front, drive sprocket at the rear and no return rollers. Electromechanical wheel-type steering system and hydro-mechanical gearbox ensure ease of control and good cross-country ability and maneuverability of the vehicle in the most hostile road and climatic conditions. It can run at a maximum speed of 45 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 550 km.
Accessories
The cab and module of TM-140/TM-140A have independent heating. The vehicle has the starting preheated. The vehicle is fully amphibious being propelled in the water by its tracks at a maximum speed of 5 km/h. The use of fine track shoes with long-lasting rubber-metal hinge ensures low average specific ground pressure of the loaded vehicle and results in higher flotation. A self-recovery winch is mounted at the front of the vehicle.
