ShieldAfrica's 4th edition to deal with security needs of Africa
Nowadays, Africa is dealing with major political, economic and demographic issues, which require a strong growth. There is no development without security; that is why ShieldAfrica, international security and defence exhibition, will open its doors in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from the 24th to the 26th of January 2017. This fourth edition will deal with the numerous security needs of the continent, with special focus on the Safe City concept, a Smart Cities component.
Dedicated to Security but also to Defence, the main goal of ShieldAfrica is to offer solutions and materials to protect the African development. Protection of property and persons, transport and network security, healthcare security, financial systems safety, Cyber security, ground areas and maritime approaches surveillance, ports, airports and borders security, surveillance, detection, identification… are the main business sectors of the manufacturers exhibiting at the show, taking part in the protection of areas and populations.

In this way, ShieldAfrica addresses the African continent challenges by putting the continent politicians and end-users in contact with worldwide companies, under the watchful eye of media, in order to securing cities, controlling areas, managing flows and resources. It also aims to escort the increasing urbanization and to fight against cross-border terrorism. So ShieldAfrica is in step with the concerns of governments, metropolitan authorities, administrations, national or multinational companies, private and international organization. Characterised by various sectors, highly qualified visitors and a complete offer, ShieldAfrica aims to take part in a safer Africa for tomorrow, allowing a flourishing development.

The goals and ambitions of this event have been presented during Eurosatory 2016 to numerous visitors, companies representatives and media, with the presence of Stéphane Konan – founder and General Commissioner of ShieldAfrica. The concept of this exhibition has been defined in this way: “an African exhibition wanted and designed by Africans, for Africans”.

The day before the opening of ShieldAfrica, on Monday 23rd of January 2017, the exhibition attendees will gather at Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan for an international conference in order to debate the topic: Africa, let’s protect our development: towards an integrated approach.
