“The Okhotnik remotely operated weapon station passed qualification tests, and its serial production was launched. The combat module will be shown at the Army 2021 international forum,” the press office said. The Okhotnik is armed with one Kord 12.7mm 6P49 heavy machine gun that can be used to engage light armored vehicles at a maximum range of up to 2,000 meters as well as aerial targets at a maximum range of up to 1,500 meters.

A series of five Okhotnik weapon stations have been recently delivered to the Remdizel Enterprise to be mounted on Taifun-K armored vehicles. In 2021, the serial Okhotnik weapon station will be mounted on vehicles manufactured by some Russian enterprises.

The weapon station versatility makes it possible to use it on special vehicles of various armed branches, including ground and engineer forces, that have already made requests for the Okhotnik.

“In 2020, five Taifun-K53949 wheeled armored vehicles with the Okhotnik weapon station took part in the parade in Red Square. This year, improved combat weapon stations of the Elektromashina Enterprise have been delivered. A new Russian-made machinegun developed for robotic systems was installed on the combat module. The upgrade increased the fire effectiveness of the Okhotnik combat module by 20-30 percent,” Elektromashina Enterprise Deputy CEO for Special Equipment Ivan Korolkov said.

The stabilized remote-controlled platform of the weapon station is intended to monitor and conduct combat actions from the protected gunner workstation. The turret is equipped with a thermal imager, a fault detection system, a round counter with an indicator for ammunition consumption control, a gyroscopic stabilization system for the sight and weapons, a laser rangefinder.

The weapon station also features an automated cocking capability to deliver fire remotely. The weapon station can deliver pinpoint fire on the move at a speed of 20-30 km/h and hit targets at a distance of up to 1,000 m.
