Morgan
to showcase lightweight soldier protection systems at DSA 2014.
The
DSA 2014 event, to be held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Malaysia
on 14-17 April 2014, will see Morgan Advanced Materials, display its latest
high-performance soldier protection system technologies on the UKTI stand
4010E.
a
Morgan's Composites
& Defence Systems business, formerly known as NP Aerospace, has
been a leading supplier
of advanced armour systems to the UK Ministry of Defence for more than
25 years, and has supplied more than 40,000 pairs of Osprey body armour
plates and 80,000 Mk7 combat helmets for operations in Afghanistan.
Morgan's ERGOTEC 4000 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) suit is economically
designed to provide the wearer with both maximum protection and full
freedom of movement. The suit comprises the ERGOTEC 4000 breastplate,
which minimises transmission of Shockwave energy to the operator's torso.
Its innovative articulated design incorporates a three-piece telescopic
construction that enhances flexibility with no loss of blast de-coupling
capability. The suit also includes the unique ERGOTEC 4000 helmet and
collar, which provides best-in-class protection against radial and linear
head acceleration during a blast event.
The LASA (Lightweight Armour Soldier Architecture) System is the most
advanced lightweight soldier system in the world. It offers bespoke,
integrated
load carriage and head sub-systems, available to fulfil mission-critical
protection. Morgan has provided more than 1,000,000 combat proven helmets
to multiple customers worldwide, and supplied more than 100,000 armour
plates for personnel protection in Iraq and Afghanistan. The LASA System
benefits from a 25% weight reduction against previous systems, improving
mobility and reducing wearer fatigue.
Duncan Eldridge, President of Composites and Defence Systems, commented:
"The DSA event is a great opportunity for us to highlight our unique
soldier protection system technologies to our international customers.
Advances in materials enable us to create products which offer a dramatic
weight reduction, without compromising performance. We look forward
to very strong interest in the latest systems from international delegates
at the event."
