The
47th International Paris Air Show
held from 18 to 24 June 2007 was
a success. Both exhibitors and
sponsors, as well as trade visitors
and the general public, all contributed
to its success. As this brief
review shows, the figures speak
for themselves.
The
Paris Air Show (Salon International
de l'Aéronautique et de
l'Espace, Paris-Le Bourget) is
an international trade fair for
the aerospace business. It is
held at Le Bourget airport near
Paris, France every odd year,
alternating both with the Farnborough
International Exhibition and Flying
Display and the Internationale
Luft- und Raumfahrtausstellung
Berlin (ILA).
The
Paris Air Show is a commercial
air show, organised by the French
aerospace industry's body the
Groupement des Industries Françaises
Aéronautiques et Spatiales
(GIFAS) whose main purpose is
to demonstrate military and civilian
aircraft to potential customers.
It is one of the most prestigious
in the world; traditionally, some
major sales contracts are announced
during the show as part of the
corporate communication
of the manufacturers. All major
international manufacturers, as
well as the military forces of
several countries, attend the
Paris Air Show.
In
addition to industrial visitors,
during the closing days of the
salon, the show welcomes a large
number of public visitors from
France and many other European
countries, when admission is not
limited to visitors with industry
affiliations.

which takes place 15-18 June 2009
for trade visitors and 19-21 June
2009 for the general public, is

The
Centenary Show promises to be a great
success!
Certain years
have a lasting influence. Following
the 100th anniversary of the French
Aerospace Industries
Association (Gifas) in October 2008,
the International Paris Air Show
celebrates its centenary in June
2009.
In 1908, several brilliant aircraft
manufacturers and inventors, such
as Blériot, Breguet and Voisin,
establishedFrance’s first
aerospace industries’ trade
association, the Chambre Syndicale
de l’Industrie Aéronautique.
The following year they hosted the
first air show at the Grand Palais
in Paris.
One hundred years later, following
countless technological and commercial
successes, a new page has been turned
in the history of the industry,
that of constant innovation, sustainable
development and respect for the
environment.
Following
the centenary of the French aerospace
industries association (Gifas) held
in October 2008, it is now the turn
of the Paris International Air Show
– Le Bourget to commemorate
its 100-year history.
In 1908, a group of brilliant inventors
and aircraft builders, including
Blériot, Breguet and Voisin,
decided to bring an industrial and
commercial dimension to aviation,
which had up to that point been
considered a sport. With this in
mind they formed an association,
the Chambre Syndicale de l’Industrie
Aéronautique. The following
year, they organized the first airborne
locomotion exhibition at the Grand
Palais in Paris, which hosted the
event for 44 years.
