The Egyptian Armed Forces have a long history of cooperation with France and have procured a variety of French military equipment over the years. In recent year, the Egyptian Armed Forces have acquired several French military equipments including combat vehicles, ships, fighter aircraft, and air defense missile system.

Egypt was the first export customer for the Rafale, with an initial order of 24 aircraft in 2015. Egypt has since expanded its fleet to include more aircraft, making it one of the largest operators of the Rafale outside France.

In 2015, Egypt acquired two Mistral-class ships from France, named ENS Anwar El Sadat (L1020) and ENS Gamal Abdel Nasser (L1010). These ships serve as helicopter carriers and are among the largest vessels in the Egyptian Navy. The Egyptian Navy has also ordered FREMM frigates from France, which are versatile surface combatants designed by Naval Group. These frigates are equipped with advanced sensors and weapon systems, enhancing the Egyptian Navy's capabilities significantly.

The Egyptian Air Force uses the MBDA MICA air-to-air missile system on its Dassault Rafale aircraft. The MICA missile family has both infrared and radar-guided variants, providing versatility in combat engagements. The Egyptian Air Force also has operated the Harfang Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV system, designed by Airbus Defense and Space (formerly EADS).

The MMP was designed to replace the older MILAN missile system in the French Army. It entered into service with the French army in 2017 and has since been integrated into various platforms, including infantry, armored vehicles, and remotely operated turrets. It was recently renamed Akeron MP.

The Akeron MP missile has a range of up to 4,000 meters (about 2.5 miles) and is equipped with a tandem warhead capable of defeating modern explosive reactive armor (ERA) systems. The missile features a multi-purpose tandem warhead, making it effective against various targets such as armored vehicles, infrastructure, and personnel in cover.

The guidance system of the Akeron MP missile consists of a fiber-optic data link, which allows the operator to control the missile in real-time, even after launch. This "man-in-the-loop" capability ensures greater accuracy and minimizes collateral damage. The missile can be guided using infrared homing, which relies on the operator's line of sight, or autonomously with its fire-and-forget mode, utilizing a combination of GPS/INS (Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System) and infrared imaging for terminal guidance.

The Akeron MP has been tested and integrated on various platforms, making it a versatile weapon system for modern armed forces.
